Paul Flynn's football championship predictions

We probably got a bit more excitement than we thought last weekend, with wins for Waterford and Wicklow.

Wicklow are now rewarded with a challenge against Kildare this weekend; it will be a tough task for them. Kildare had a training camp down in Fota Island last week and they're hoping that will press reset for them.

For me the games of the weekend are Dublin taking on Meath in Croke Park and Armagh and Fermanagh up in Ulster.

This Meath team kicked 2-18 from play against Longford the last day - fantastic kicking - and they have a really good spread of forwards in Eoghan Frayne, Jordan Morris. Matthew Costello and James Conlon. They've got pace from Jacksie O'Connor.

There is a real threat in the Meath attack; there are gaps in defence, but as we've seen in the league finals, these open games can create chaos. Who knows what will happen? It might be a little too early for Meath in their journey (to create an upset).

For Dublin it's about how they respond after the league final defeat to Derry and do we see the re-introduction of the likes of Stephen Cluxton and Michael Fitzsimons. The one I'm looking forward to coming back on the pitch is Lee Gannon.

I'm going to go for a Dublin win but it will be interesting to see where Meath are at this stage in their journey.

I watched Fermanagh-Armagh in the league and it was a close game, except for an Armagh purple patch in the second half where they got five points on the trot and that really killed off the game. This is the thing with Armagh for me: they have to go on the front foot, they can't sit back.
