Paris 2024: Team Ireland dressage team tent in team event

Ireland's dressage team have finished 10th in the team event at the Chateau de Versailles.

The Irish Para equestrian team, made up of Michael Murphy, Sarah Slattery and Kate Kerr-Horan, posted a total score of 208.545.

Riding the horse Savona, Slattery set a strong individual score of 68.895, before Murphy (73.083) and Kerr-Horan (66.567), aboard Cleverboy and Lykkebo's Don Akino respectively, added to the combined total to ensure a top ten finish among the 16 nations competing.

USA (235.567) claimed gold ahead of the Netherlands (232.850) who took home silver. Germany secured the bronze medal with a score of 223.751.

"Regardless of the score I was super happy, because myself and Cleverboy gave everything we could for the team," Murphy told RTÉ Sport.

"In the past we've had better scores but I think it’s the best test we’ve ever done and I’m so glad I was able to do that for the team, especially as Sarah had already put in an amazing performance."

Slattery was "thrilled" with how her ride went aboard Savona.

The Galway woman said: "The first day I was only riding for myself, but today I was riding for Team Ireland.

"I really wanted to do well for the team. That meant I felt a little more pressure today but we finished on over 68% again and I'm really thrilled.

"(Savona) was a little bit more tense in this test than she was in the test on the first day but we were able to ride through it, we got through it.
