Parents told to speak to their children after pupils caught red-handed in leafy suburb
Police have urged parents to speak to their children after students were caught shoplifting in a leafy Cheshire suburb.
Officers said they had received reports of school pupils stealing items from a Co-op store in School Lane, Poynton, during lunch breaks. They said they were reviewing CCTV footage and "working closely with Co-op staff and the high school" to identify those responsible.
In a message to parents, they urged them to speak to their children about the "consequences of shoplifting".

A post on the Poynton West and Adlington Police Facebook page yesterday (Tuesday) read: "PARENTS we have been made aware of students shoplifting items from The Co-op, School Lane, Poynton during school lunch time.
"If your child is allowed out during school lunch time we strongly advise that you speak to your child about the consequences of shoplifting/theft.
"We are working closely with Co-op staff and the High School and we are currently reviewing CCTV of the thefts that have took place. Those identified will be visited by Police and dealt with accordingly."
