Pape Gueye slaps down Scottish football as Aberdeen reject breaks silence

Aberdeen reject Pape Habib Gueye has taken aim at the style of football employed in the Premiership, after the former Senegal youth international was shipped out on loan to Norwegian second division side Kristiansund Ballklubb.

The 24-year-old only arrived at Pittodrie last summer, with the then Dons boss Barry Robson forking out a reported £500,000 to secure his services from Belgian Pro League club KV Kortijk. However, the striker failed to live up to the lofty price tag and was unable to find the net in any of his eight appearances in all competitions, only one of which came from the start in a 2-2 draw with Helsinki in Finland in the group stages of the UEFA Conference League.

Following Robson's sacking at the end of January, Gueye has found his game time further restricted, having been left out of three of the last four matchday squads by new interim manager Neil Warnock.

He said: "The Belgian league is good, it is tough and technical. In Scotland we use a lot of power up and down, so it's a totally different league. In Norway, I see that the league is getting better and better. When I played here before, it was a lot about running as much as possible, but now I see that many teams play more football."
