Aberdeen FC accelerate next manager hunt as candidates in work eyed and review calls for major revamp

Managerless Aberdeen will step up their search for next boss with candidates currently in work in consideration to replace Neil Warnock.

Chairman Dave Cormack and chief executive Alan Burrows are seeking a replacement for the 75-year-old after his hasty exit in the wake of Saturday's Scottish Cup win over Kilmarnock. The club have provided an update following the competition a external review of the club which was headed up Bernhard Pieters – with a new technical director inbound.

He will join the club to work alongside director of football Steven Gunn with a new boss next on the hitlist with Aberdeen in genuine peril as the languish near the foot of the Scottish Premiership table. Warnock's short stay followed Barry Robson's exit following a season to forget with only six league wins.

And now chief executive Alan Burrows has mapped out the future, stating: “At the turn of the year, the club instructed a football consultancy group, BPTC, headed by Bernhard Peters, to conduct a holistic review of our football operation. Bernhard is widely recognised as one of the most successful youth academy/high performance architects in the industry. He has a storied reputation in the Bundesliga, having previously served as sporting director for Hamburger SV and Director of high performance for TSG Hoffenheim.

“BPTC themselves currently consult with a raft of top clubs, coaches, and national associations across the globe. They very recently completed their audit and submitted a comprehensive report which we have reviewed with them. We are extremely pleased that their report has validated a lot of very good policy, practice, and robust processes already in place within the club’s academy and wider football department.

“They have also
