Palmeiras vs Al Ahly: Prediction, kick off time, TV, live stream, h2h, team news for Club World Cup

Palmeiras face Al Ahly in the first semi-final of the Club World Cup on Tuesday afternoon, with the winner potentially facing Chelsea in the final.

Palmeiras were mobbed as they travelled to the airport by fans in Brazil, ahead of flying out to Abu Dhabi, and like Chelsea they qualified straight through to the last four, as a result of their Copa Libertadores triumph. Thomas Tuchel’s side face Al Hilal in the other semi-final.

Egyptian side Al Ahly beat Monterrey 1-0 on Saturday to reach this stage and can take confidence from when they faced Palmerias in this tournament last year.

The sides met in the third-place playoff, and after a 0-0 draw it was Al Ahly who came out on top in the penalty shootout.

Here’s all you need to know about the Club World Cup match...

The Club World Cup semi-final is scheduled for a 4.30pm GMT kick-off time on Tuesday February 8, 2022.

The Al Nahyan Stadium in Abu Dhabi will host it.

TV channel: The game is not being broadcast live in the UK.

Live blog: Keep up to date with all the action on Standard Sport’s live blog.

Palmeiras have not yet played at the Club World Cup yet, so should have the full squad that they travelled with available for the semi-final clash.

Al Ahly will be without a number of their first-team stars, who were involved in the Africa Cup of Nations campaign. Egypt were beaten on penalties by Senegal in the final.

Mohamed El-Shennawy, Ayman Ashraf, Hamdi Fathi and Mohamed Sherif are among those that will miss out, with Al Ahly not naming any of those involved in the tournament in their squad.

A weakened Al Ahly side edged through in their opening Club World Cup match, but they will have to step up their performance if they are to get the better of Palmeiras.
