Padraic Maher departs role as Tipperary selector
Tipperary GAA have confirmed that Padraic Maher will not be part of the Liam Cahill's backroom team in 2024.
Maher was drafted into Cahill's set-up as a selector for Tipp's 2022 campaign, just months after being forced to retire due to a neck injury.
He remained part of the backroom team throughout 2023, as Tipp crashed out of the All-Ireland Hurling Championship at the quarter-final stage.
"Due to unforeseen changes in his work circumstances, 2023 Senior hurling selector Padraic Maher will not be in a position to continue in the role for 2024," said a Tipperary statement issued on Wednesday night.
The statement also confirmed that Cahill will be assisted by Michael Bevans, Declan Laffan and TJ Ryan in 2024, while Brendan Cummins and James Woodlock will remain in charge of the county's U20 and Minor teams respectively.
As a player, Maher won three All-Ireland titles with Tipperary, along with five Munster Championships.
