Oxford Racing Ducati boss tight-lipped on Petrucci rumours

Oxford Racing Ducati team boss Steve Moore is refusing to comment on rumours that former MotoGP star Danilo Petrucci could be heading his way in 2023.

The Bennetts British Superbike rider rumour mill was in full swing at Donington Park over the weekend and both Petrucci and Christian Iddon have been put in the seat currently occupied by Tommy Bridewell.

When quizzed about the Italian by bikesportnews.com, Moore would only say: “I can neither confirm nor deny that we have had any contact with the rider.”

Petrucci had been linked with a ride in the works Ducati WorldSBK team but that eventually went to Michael Rinaldi. The MotoGP race winner also had a ride with the Ecstar Suzuki team at Buriram where he finished in 20th as stand-in for Joan Mir.

A move to BSB wouldn’t be Petrucci’s first domestic Superbike rodeo as he finished second in this year’s MotoAmerica series for Ducati after taking a stage win in the Dakar as a KTM rider.

Bridewell’s future is currently unsure but there is a very strong rumour he has done a deal with Paul Bird for 2023 - which will be an interesting dynamic.
