Over 250 children, coaches complete Jordan Nwora Elite Basketball camp

American coaches volunteer assistance The second Jordan Nwora Basketball Elite camp has ended with over 250 boys and girls, as well as coaches, participating in the training sessions handled by experts from America.

The three-day clinic saw participants learning the modern techniques in the dunking game at the event held at Warriors Basketball Court, Ilupeju, Lagos.

Speaking at the end of the camp, D’Tigers’ former coach, Alex Nwora, said his son, Jordan, who is one of the key players in the country’s men’s national team, decided to begin the project to give more youths opportunity to achieve their dreams in basketball.

“This is the second edition of the Jordan Nwora Basketball Camp for players and coaches to be given more enlightenment on the sport and also expose them to experienced coaches.

“My son’s target is to take more children out of the street through basketball. Mentorship programmes like this can impact on the lives of many Nigerian kids. The camp has been successful, as many talents have been groomed to be better players,” he said.

President of the Jordan Nwora Foundation, Tony Nwora, noted that the programme has helped to lift the spirit of many Nigerian kids to believe they can attain success through basketball.

“The Foundation is a non-profitable organisation aimed at taking children off the streets to play basketball. It also trains them on discipline and career mentorship to make them more responsible in life struggles.

“The training is free and all the foreign coaches that are at the event are here on volunteer purpose.

“We are delighted that Nigerian kids are embracing this camping as the foreign coaches assess them and figure out more opportunities for them in their basketball career.
