Oshoala, Ajibade, Nnadozie, four Nigerians shortlisted for CAF Women’s Player of the Year

Seven Super Falcons players have been nominated for the 2023 CAF Player of the Year award.

CAF unveiled the 30-player shortlist on their X handle on Tuesday.

The Super Falcons players are current holder of the CAF Player of the Year award Asisat Oshoala, Chiamaka Nnadozie, Rasheedat Ajibade and Christy Ucheibe.

Others are Uchenna Kanu, Osinachi Ohale and Toni Payne.

In the Young Player category, the trio of Deborah Abiodun, Esther Ajakaye and Tosin Demehin made the cut.

For the best goalkeeper category, Nnadozie will slug it out with 10 others while Randy Waldrum is in the running for the Coach of the Year.

Meanwhile, Nigeria is also in the race for the Best Women’s team for 2023.

Super Eagles and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen was nominated for the CAF Men’s Player of the Year award and Gift Orban got shortlisted for the Young Player category.

The award ceremony will be held on December 11 in Marrakesh, Morocco.
