Chris Forrester named PFAI Player of the Year for 2023

St Patrick's Athletic midfielder Chris Forrester was named the PFA Ireland Player of the Year at the annual awards ceremony in Dublin on Saturday night.

The 30-year-old was recognised by his peers after scoring 15 goals in all competitions as St Pat's won the FAI Cup and finished third in the SSE Airtricity Men's Premier Division.

Jonathan Afolabi of Bohemians and Cork City's Ruairí Keating - who has since joined Forrester at Pat's - were the other players in the running for the prize.

Forrester's teammate Sam Curtis won the Young Player of the Year award on the same weekend that he turned 18, while Waterford's Ronan Coughlan picked up the award for First Division Player of the Year, after scoring 37 goals en route to promotion.

Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley was named PFAI Men's Premier Division Manager of the Year for the fourth year running, while Galway United's John Caulfield won the equivalent prize for the First Division.

Peamount United's Sadhbh Doyle named PFAI Women's Player of the Year, while her clubmate Jess Fitzgerald won the young player prize.

The pair's manager James O'Callaghan was named Manager of the Year after guiding the club to the SSE Airtricity Women's Premier Division title.

Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson was awarded Overseas Player of the Year.
