Orlando Pirates take giant step towards Confed Cup final
Orlando Pirates have taken a giant step towards making the CAF Confederation Cup final after beating Al Ahly Tripoli 2-0 in their first leg semi-final encounter in Libya on Sunday.
The Soweto giants were full value for their win, dominating proceedings for most of the contest.
An Innocent Maela header gave them the lead in just the 8th minute before Goodman Mosele doubled the lead from close range in the 28th minute.
Deon Hotto and Bandile Shandu had a number of chances to take Pirates even further ahead, but it was not to be and they will now return to Gauteng for the second leg as overwhelming favourites to progress.
The stadium floodlights were faulty towards the end of the match, resulting in play being stopped more than once, but in the end the fixture was completed and Pirates will be more than pleased with the result.
