"...Or Your Crown Slips": Sania Mirza's Latest Insta Post Is All About Keeping "Chin Up"

Sania Mirza is undoubtedly India's best-ever women's tennis star. From 2005 till 2009, Sania Mirza featured consistently in Grand Slam singles events, during which time she even broke into the top 30 in the world rankings. Her best-ever result in singles Grand Slam came at the 2005 US Open, where she reached the fourth round. She enjoyed more success in doubles, where she won six Grand Slam events (three in women's doubles and three in mixed doubles). Recently, Sania Mirza's personal life became a trending topic on social media after former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik shared his wedding pictures on social media.  

The rumours of Sania's divorce from Shoaib became a reality after the cricketer shared pictures of his wedding with actor Sana Javed. Since then, Sania Mirza's social media activity has been widely followed. 

Recently, Sania Mirza's latest Insta post drew wide reaction. "Chin up princess, or your crown slips," she wrote in the post.

After the news of Shoaib Malik and Sania Mirza's divorce came to light, in a statement, the India star's team and her family wrote: "Sania has always kept her personal life away from the public eye. However, today the need has arisen for her to share that Shoaib and she have been divorced for a few months now. She wishes Shoaib well for his new journey ahead!

At this sensitive period of her life, we would like to request all fans and well-wishers to refrain from indulging in any speculation and to respect her need for privacy."

Their five-year-old son Izaan lives with Sania.

Sania's father Imran Mirza told PTI that "it was a 'khula'", which refers to the right of a Muslim woman to unilaterally divorce her husband.
