Opinion: Potential Six-figure Celtic transfer could happen soon

It seems that Celtic could be close to making a midfield signing sooner rather than later, if a report from the Daily Record prove to be correct.

The report states that Hoops transfer target Mohammad Abu Fani could be on his way out of his team Maccabi Haifa, after a spokesman for the club confirmed that he would be sold if his valuation was met.

The report goes on to state that the 24-year-old’s valuation is around £800,000, and that Eintracht Frankfurt, Standard Liege and Royal Antwerp are also interested in signing the player.

If Celtic want the player, they should go out and sign him, and the Bhoys have had success in signing players from the Israeli league in the past. Nir Bitton has just left the club after an incredibly successful nine-year spell at the club, whilst Liel Abada enjoyed an excellent first season at the club, being named as Scorland’s Young Player of the Year.

Should Abu Fani join the Hoops, then he could be a replacement for Bitton, as he is a central midfielder, and the Bhoys will be looking to bring a player in to take the place of Bitton in the Celtic squad.

Interestingly, Abu Fani can also play in defensive and attacking positions in midfield, and that versatility could be a reason why the Hoops are eager to sign the player in the first place.

Celtic do need to make some signings soon, and the focus from most of the support has been getting Jota and Cameron Carter-Vickers signed on a permanent deal, and understandably so, as that duo were key to the Hoops winning the title last season.
