Opinion: Ipswich Town ought to consider sanctioning exit for 26-y/o amid Swansea interest

After opting to hand over the reins at Portman Road to Kieran McKenna last month, Ipswich Town have experienced a busy January transfer window.

The Tractor Boys have bolstered their squad by securing the services of Tyreeq Bakinson on a temporary deal whilst Christian Walton has joined the club on a permanent basis from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Ipswich have also sanctioned several departures in recent weeks as Toto Nsiala has completed a permanent move to Fleetwood Town whilst Myles Kenlock recently joined Colchester United on loan.

Louie Barry meanwhile was recalled from the Tractor Boys by Aston Villa after failing to make a positive impact during his time at the club.

Another Ipswich player who could be about to follow in the footsteps of Nsiala and Barry is Scott Fraser.

According to the Daily Record, Swansea City are reportedly looking into the possibility of submitting a six-figure bid for the attacking midfielder.

Whilst a separate report from TWTD has suggested that the Jacks have yet to make an approach for Fraser, it will be interesting to see whether the Welsh side opt to test Ipswich’s resolve by offering a reasonable amount for him in the coming days.

If a bid is placed by Swansea, it could be argued that Ipswich ought to consider sanctioning a departure for Fraser as the 26-year-old has struggled to deliver the goods on a consistent basis this season.

In the 20 games that he has played for the Tractor Boys in all competitions, the attacking midfielder has only managed to provide an underwhelming total of four direct goal contributions.

Forced to watch on from the sidelines for Ipswich’s last six league games, Fraser has already seemingly fallen out of favour with McKenna.
