Opinion: Celtic must be wary of 10-time title winner in Pittodrie battle

Celtic travel to Aberdeen on Wednesday night looking to continue on their current winning run which sees the Bhoys sit proudly at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

The Bhoys know that it won’t be easy to pick up the three points though, as both games between the sides have been close this season, with the Hoops edging 2-1 wins in both encounters.

Aberdeen are not currently in the best run of form, and are without a win in the league so far in 2022. But they did recently hold Rangers to a draw at Pittodrie, and there is another important factor that has not been discussed so far – Scott Brown.

Brown left the Hoops at the end of last season after an incredibly successful period in Glasgow, where he won 10 league titles, and captained the Bhoys to four consecutive domestic trebles.

Aberdeen might not be having the best of seasons, but you can bet that he will be more than up for the game and will be determined to stop the Hoops picking up the three points.

Celtic’s midfield looks to be very strong at the moment, with the likes of Reo Hatate, Callum McGregor, Matt O’Riley and Tom Rogic have all been in excellent form.

Brown will be looking to disrupt that to stop the Bhoys picking up the three points, and Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou will be well-aware of what Brown is still capable of even though he is 36-years-old.

Celtic have worked hard to get back to the top of the Premiership, and it could have been easy for the Hoops to slacken off after defeating Rangers to go top of the table. That didn’t happen, as the Bhoys defeated Motherwell at the weekend, to stay a point clear in the title race.
