Opinion: AFC Bournemouth should strengthen transfer interest in Bristol City player

Bournemouth are making impressive strides towards securing a return to the Premier League, with the Cherries strengthening their push for automatic promotion via a 2-0 victory at home to Derby County at the weekend.

Scott Parker’s side hold a two-point gap over Huddersfield Town in third place, with his side possessing three games in hand on the in-form Terriers.

Should promotion be secured in what remains of this second-tier season, then Parker will need to adjust his approach to recruitment, with the rigours of the Premier League to prepare for.

One player who the Cherries should look to strike an agreement with is Bristol City midfielder Han-Noah Massengo.

The south coast club have been credited with an interest in the 20-year-old by a report from Bristol World, however, it did state that French club Lyon are also in pursuit.

As well as the competition provided by the Ligue Un outfit, Football Insider have also reported that Leicester City and Southampton hold an interest in the young midfielder, meaning that a deal for the Cherries would be a lot harder than first perceived. 

The Cherries do possess strong midfield options in the likes of Philip Billing, Jefferson Lerma, Lewis Cook and Ben Pearson, however, Massengo is a different option who brings a lot of desirable attributes to the fray. 

The 20-year-old is an excellent technician and has a brilliant range of passing, aiding him when he is in tight scenarios in the defensive third, whilst his incisive passing is also a consistent source of creating chances. 

Massengo also reads the game very well, something that helps him split defence with intelligent through balls, whilst that also helps him to break the play up when out of possession.
