Nigel Pearson has his say ahead of Bristol City and AFC Bournemouth clash

Bristol City will be desperate to pull off the upset against Bournemouth this weekend even if they don’t have too much to play for now – and Nigel Pearson has told Bristol City’s official website that his players will have ‘a point to prove’ against the Cherries.

The Robins have a talented squad with some exciting players in their ranks but it hasn’t helped them climb very far up the Championship table this campaign. Despite some solid showings and big results, they remain rooted in the bottom half of the division, with the side currently sat in 18th place.

In contrast to that, Bournemouth are flying high and dreaming of another Premier League place under Scott Parker. They’re in second place and are six points clear of third with two games in hand on them to boot. It means the Cherries are in pole position to land an automatic promotion spot as things stand.

Pearson though feels his side, despite the difference between the two teams this campaign, can cause an upset at the weekend and claimed that one or two of his players ‘will have a point to prove’ against their opposition.

The Robins could certainly make a statement of intent if they do pull off a win this weekend and show what they are capable of heading into the next campaign. It would also do the teams around Bournemouth a favour, as if the side drops points, it could allow Fulham to widen their gap and step closer to the title and allow some of the teams behind them to catch up.
