Opinion: £2.5m Celtic star more than capable of being crowned top scorer

Looking at the top scorers for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, it is quite difficult to predict who is going to end the season as top scorer for the Hoops in the Scottish top flight.

As shown on WhoScored.Com, Celtic’s top scorer in the league is Liel Abada with nine goals, followed by Kyogo and Giorgos Giakoumakis both on eight goals, and Jota on seven goals.

It is testament to how well that Kyogo played in the first-half of the season before his injury that he is still Celtic’s second top scorer in the Premiership, and Abada and Jota deserve plenty of credit for having scored so many goals when neither player is technically a striker.

However, if you were to predict which player ended up as Celtic’s top scorer in the Premiership this season, then Giakoumakis could be your best bet.

He has been in excellent form for the Hoops in the league in recent games, scoring hat-tricks against Dundee and Ross County.

You can’t rule out Abada and Jota either from being the top scorer, even though both players have found goals hard to come by relatively recently.

Back to Giakoumakis though, and the 27-year-old is starting to become a mainstay for the Hoops.
