Ondrej Kudela drops Glen Kamara appeal as Rangers midfielder vindicated in Slavia Prague racism storm

Slavia Prague racist Ondrej Kudela has dropped his appeal against the ban he was handed for abusing Glen Kamara.

In the closing stages of a bad-tempered Europa League last 16 clash, the Czech international could be seen whispering into the ear of the Rangers midfielder, covering his mouth with his hand.

Kamara immediately reacted with fury, later revealing that Kudela had called him a "f*****g monkey".

The Slavia defender denied that but was found guilty by UEFA and handed a 10 match ban for the racist slur.

That caused him to miss Euro 2020 and an appeal against the suspension was thrown out by the governing body.

Kudela took his case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, with a trial set for April after an initial delay.

Kamara would have been called as a witness in those proceedings but the 34-year-old has decided to withdraw his appeal.

A statement from lawyers Urban & Hejduk said: "In agreement with our client, we will file a withdrawal today of the appeal against UEFA's disciplinary decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.

"We respect the client's wishes to end the whole matter."

Kudela was condemned by the wider football community for his actions, but was initially defended by Slavia Prague.

He faced a potential police probe but it was announced this month that charges will not be filed.
