'On another level' - Rasmus Hojlund names Manchester United's most underrated player

Striker Rasmus Hojlund does not believe midfielder Manuel Ugarte has earned the level of recognition he has deserved for his recent performances, naming him as Manchester United's most underrated player.

Ugarte arrived at Old Trafford from French club Paris Saint-Germain on the final day of last summer's transfer window and initially struggled to force his way into the team under former manager Erik ten Hag, despite United's desperate need for fresh blood in the centre of midfield.

However, Ruben Amorim's appointment as Ten Hag's successor in November has seen his United career spark into life in recent weeks, with his performance levels starting to go up through the gears.

The Uruguayan has added the steel and aggression to United's midfield that had long since been missing, with the former Sporting Lisbon man, who worked with Amorim previously in Portugal, proving highly successful in his defensive actions.

But with almost all of his contributions of a defensive nature, Hojlund does not believe he has been given the right level of praise for his improved showings.

"I think you've seen it a little bit more now with the new manager coming in, how well he's been doing," Hojlund told Sky Sports when asked to name the most underrated player at the club. "Obviously, the results have not been good enough but he's been a standout player lately.

"You see his quality, you see those workhorses in teams, they don’t get the appreciation. For example, Amad has been doing amazing recently and he's starting to get his recognition.

"But Manu has also been very, very good. You're starting to see now that he's performing on another level."
