Oliver Glasner breaks Rangers manager silence as flattered boss reveals he's switching sports amid sabbatical

Oliver Glasner stopped short of ruling out a return to football to manage Rangers - but says he finds it 'amusing' that his name is in the frame.

Record Sport first revealed the former Eintracht Frankfurt boss holds an interest in the vacant Ibrox post having led the Germans to Europa League glory over Gers just 18 months ago. For now though he's focused on basketball as he heads to the US to see what he can learn from another sport.

Austrian coach Glasner left Eintracht at the end of last season and has been linked with a string of clubs as well on top of his interest in Rangers. However, he has dropped behind Kevin Muscat and Philippe Clement in the race for the Ibrox hot seat and admitted he has other priorities anyway. Asked directly in an interview in Austria about Rangers, Glasner stated: "I have never commented on that speculation and I never will. I notice it and am amused by it. But it doesn't affect my daily routine in any way. It's nice that it all happens more or less in the background.

"I haven’t had any withdrawal symptoms from football yet. At the moment I have other things that are in the foreground. I only watch football when there's nothing else to do which is very, very rare.

"Every day, I am very relaxed. I feel like I am on holiday each day. The time will come when I return to management, I will feel it. It would need to be a project that excites me again. If I can make a difference and I have a good feeling about it, then I will do it.
