Oli McBurnie and Morgan Gibbs-White among Sheffield United moments missed at Nottingham Forest

Sheffield United may have seen their season come to an end at the City Ground last night, but they did not go down without a fight. Trailing 1-0 on the night at half-time and 3-1 on aggregate, the Blades produced a spirited second-half comeback to turn the tie upside down and force extra-time and then penalties.

Although Brice Samba was the hero of the shoot-out, United's players did themselves proud as they fell on their sword. It was an action-packed affair with plenty of incident on and off the pitch.

But the one thing that did shine through last night was the team spirit and how much they were very much United until the end.

Warming up with the substitutes away from the starting XI, Hourihane positioned himself in the line of travel for those players as they headed down the tunnel before kick-off to get ready.

One-by-one he high-fived every player and wished them all the best. On the bench again, he could have been forgiven for having one eye on what the next few months will bring, but he was all about United in this moment.
