Morgan Gibbs-White and Dean Henderson have influenced Sheffield United transfer decisions

Two of Sheffield United's most inspired signings in recent years have been Dean Henderson and Morgan Gibbs-White. The pair both joined from Premier League sides on loan and have given the club more than enough confidence to try and repeat that success once more.

Although starting to emerge following a loan spell at Shrewsbury in League One during the 2017-18 campaign, it was his two seasons at Bramall Lane that catapulted him not only into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans at Manchester United but also into the eyeline of England boss Gareth Southgate.

He was not only a key part of United's promotion to the Premier League, but also a major influence in their impressive top 10 finish the following season after a string of top drawer displays.

Gibbs-White was instrumental in this season's fifth-place finish and climb up the table following a disappointing start. His form at Sheffield United, which saw him chip in with 12 goals and 10 assists from 37 Championship matches, has also captured Southgate's attention.

The 22-year-old was this week called up to train with the full England squad ahead of their Nations League games against Hungary, Germany and Italy this month and is also attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs, who are said to be lining up bids in excess of £20m.

It's proof, not that United need it, that the Premier League loan market can really help Championship clubs bring in players they would otherwise be unable to afford if they were to try and sign these on a permanent basis.
