Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua 2 purses: How much will each fighter earn?

The excitement around Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua’s rematch is reflected in the fight purse.

With four heavyweight titles up for grabs during Saturday’s event, there’s bound to be plenty of eyeballs glued to screens around the globe.

But without even considering pay-per-view buys, both AJ and Usyk are expected, per the Daily Mail, to pocket a handy £33.2million ($40m) for their rematch in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

It ranks second in terms of the highest purse ever paid to a British boxer, with Joshua also boasting the top spot after earning close to $60million for his rematch against Andy Ruiz back in December, 2019.

Should the pay-per-view buys come flooding in on Saturday night, then the winner of the ‘Rage on the Red Sea’ could pocket as much as $50million.

The Saudi Arabian hosts of the event paid $80million for hosting rights earlier this year, and ticket sales from the Jeddah Sports City’s 10,000-seater arena will also contribute to the prize fund.

Sky Sports also coughed up $25million for broadcasting rights in the UK, with their pay-per-view cost sitting at £26.95 per customer. Digital streaming platform DAZN is expected to provide coverage for the rest of the world.

After already reclaiming his heavyweight belts once in Saudi Arabia, Joshua will be hoping for a similar result on Saturday as he looks to avenge his loss last September against the 35-year-old Usyk.
