Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua 2: AJ calls himself 'the comeback king' ahead of rematch

Anthony Joshua declared himself ‘the comeback king’ ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

The 32-year-old is looking to avenge his September loss to Usyk on August 20.

Roughly 40,000 fans will be able to watch the fight live at the Jeddah SuperDome in Saudi Arabia.

It’s worth noting that AJ has been here before, having bounced back from his first professional boxing defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr to win back his world heavyweight titles in December 2020.

And Joshua, 32, has vowed to do the same thing once again, as he looks to reclaim his belts from Usyk.

He told a press conference: “God willing I’ll perform and I’ll become three-time heavyweight champion of the world.

“The great thing is I’ve got a second chance. What got me into boxing in the first place – when I was a youngster I got in a little bit of trouble every now and again and I was blessed with a second chance and I found boxing. And I took it with both hands. So if you know me and a lot of my story, you know I’m the comeback king.

“You can put me down. But it’s difficult to keep me down. Sometimes if you keep things simple you can achieve great things.

“Robert’s been great in the camp. Definitely the hunger’s still there. Blips happen, things happen in life.

“We’re still on the road, still on the road to undisputed for sure.”

Joshua’s new trainer Robert Garcia admits that he has noticed a change in his star pupil after spending a few weeks working with him and his assistant coach Angel Fernandez.
