Robert Lewandowski: PSG's squad depth if Bayern star joined Messi and Neymar is bonkers

Paris Saint-Germain couldn’t possibly sign Robert Lewandowski, could they?

Well, believe it or not, the French champions are one of the teams reportedly looking to benefit from Lewandowski’s desire to call time on his Bayern Munich career after eight seasons in Bavaria.

According to the BBC, the 33-year-old put things very plainly while on Poland duties by saying: “One thing is certain today, my story with Bayern is over.

“After everything that has happened in recent months, I cannot imagine further good co-operation. I realise a transfer will be the best solution for both sides.”

Throughout this entire transfer saga, Barcelona have been the club most often linked with the Polish striker in what would be a real statement of intent for Xavi’s turnaround at Camp Nou.

And the ever-respected Fabrizio Romano confirmed as early as mid-May that Lewandowski’s priority was signing for the Blaugrana with a three-year contract purportedly on the table.

However, in the same breath, Romano did also clarify that PSG, along with Chelsea, have been interested in the Bayern star since last summer despite already having an embarrassment of riches in forward positions.

Throw in the fact that even major French publication L’Equipe have reported this month that PSG are targeting the former Borussia Dortmund striker and the situation only becomes even more confounding.

And remarkably, the chatter surrounding a potential PSG move for Lewandowski has only amplified in recent days despite the fact – at first glance – it seems like the most barmy transfer imaginable.

According to The Sun, Foot Mercato are reporting that Barcelona needing to reshuffle their squad for financial reasons has left the door open for PSG to make a move.
