Officers make five more arrests in Matthew Daulby murder investigation

Officers have made five more arrests following the death of a teenager in a Lancashire market town. Nine people have now been arrested after Matthew Daulby was found with stab wounds shortly after midnight on Saturday morning (July 29) in Ormskirk.

The 19-year-old died later in hospital, despite the best efforts of emergency services. Lancashire Police has today (August 3) announced that three people have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder - a 19-year-old man from Maghull, a 19-year-old man from Lydiate and a 19-year-old man from Liverpool.

Meanwhile, a 63-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman - both from Aughton - have been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. All five remain in custody.

The arrests relate to an altercation in Railway Road involving a number of males, Lancashire Police says. Officers were called out to the scene at 12.05am on Saturday following reports of an ongoing disturbance.

Matthew was found injured a short distance away. Lancashire Police says a post mortem examination, conducted this morning, stated that the cause of Matthew’s death was a stab wound.
