Nottingham Forest urged to make Aston Villa transfer decision amid 'step up' claim

Nottingham Forest have been urged to sign Aston Villa centre-forward Keinan Davis permanently this summer ahead of next season in the Premier League by former midfielder Carlton Palmer.

The 24-year-old started Sunday's Championship play-off final, returning to fitness from a hamstring injury picked up at the tail end of the regular season and featuring for just over an hour before being replaced by Sam Surridge. That match at Wembley Stadium marked Davis' 22nd and final appearance for Forest during last season's loan spell.

Five goals were scored during the stint, including a brace in the 4-0 win against Reading, but it was the striker's all-round performances that endeared the player to City Ground supporters. After securing promotion, the Reds are understandably keen to bring the player back on a more long-term arrangement.

Palmer also agrees that is something that the club should look to do. “Yes, I think so," the 56-year-old, who spent less than a year in a Forest shirt," told Football League World.

“I think it will be somebody that they would be looking to bring in, as I say, it’s a difficult one in terms of which players can step up to the mark. But he’s one of those that has played really well for them and I’m sure that they’ll be looking to make this a permanent deal.”
