Nottingham Forest tipped for 'laughable' £40m transfer as Barnsley midfielder emerges as target

The latest Nottingham Forest headlines brought to you by the Nottingham Post on June 6...

Forest have Barnsley man Callum Styles on their "radar" as they build a squad for the Premier League. The 22-year-old left-sided midfielder has been a previous target for the Reds having reportedly made a move for him in January.

Styles has been one of the Tykes' stand-out players over the last two seasons, including this term when he scored three goals and contributed two assists in 46 appearances across all competitions as they were relegated to League One.

According to reports, Styles is on the radars of Hungarian side Ferencvaros as well as Forest and other Premier League sides. Styles, a Hungarian international through his grandmother's roots, featured for his adopted country as a substitute in England's 1-0 defeat in Budapest on Saturday (June 4). It was Styles’ third cap for the Magyars.

Nottingham Forest supporters have all shared the same feeling about the Reds' link with Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.

The Sun reported that the Reds are "ready to try their luck" with a bid for the England international following the Clarets' relegation to the Championship. Despite their final day heartbreak, Burnley are said to value Pope at £40million and Forest are keen to grant the goalkeeper's wish of staying in the top flight.

It is reported that the player's camp feel they can lower the price to £10m, though that has been "laughed off" by people at Burnley. Since signing from Charlton Athletic in 2016, Pope has missed only eight top flight games over the previous three seasons and has won the club's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year twice.
