Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson makes claim about his encounter with Sheffield United man
Nottingham Forest winger Brennan Johnson has admitted that Rhys Norrington-Davies is the toughest player that he has faced in the Championship this season.
Johnson lined up against the Blades defender last month as Forest sealed a point at Bramall Lane thanks to a late equaliser from Ryan Yates.
The 20-year-old was kept relatively quiet in this fixture by Norrington-Davies who has made 22 appearances in the Championship for his side this season.
Since featuring for Wales during the international break, Johnson has produced a number of sensational attacking displays for Forest in the Championship.
The winger scored twice in the club’s victory over Blackpool before finding the back of the net in their clashes with Coventry City and Birmingham City.
Currently brimming with confidence, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if Johnson produces an eye-catching display against Luton Town on Friday.
Forest will temporarily close the gap between them and AFC Bournemouth to three points by beating the Hatters at Kenilworth Road in the early kick-off.
Asked on the latest episode of the Sky Sports EFL Podcast to name the toughest opponent that he has faced in the second-tier during the current campaign, Johnson said: “I’d probably say Rhys Norrington-Davies at Sheffield United.
“I know him from Wales as well, he’s a really good player, a really tough defender.
“So yeah, I played against him recently and yeah, he was really tough to get past.”
The Verdict
When you consider that Norrington-Davies has produced some impressive performances in the Championship this season, it doesn’t come as too much of a surprise that Johnson has named his as his toughest opponent.
