Nottingham Forest goalie makes honest admission amid 'uncertainty' over Reds future

Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Ethan Horvath has opened the door to leaving the club after admitting there is "uncertainty" surrounding his future at the City Ground.

The American international joined the Reds from Club Brugge last summer, but failed to claim the number one spot for himself ahead of promotion hero Brice Samba. He made six appearances in the Championship, as well as four in the two domestic cups. He also came on as a late substitute in the play-off final win over Huddersfield Town.

Samba has been linked with a move away from Forest this summer despite playing a pivotal role in the team's promotion to the Premier League. That opens up the opportunity for Horvath to claim the gloves for himself, but reports have claimed the club are on the lookout for a new shot stopper, with Burnley's Nick Pope heavily linked with a move.

The 27-year-old is keen to find more game time ahead of the World Cup in November with a place in the US squad up for grabs. In a recent interview he said he is "in close contact" with Forest about a potential move, but would stay if he were a regular starter next season.

"There is the uncertainty and I don't 100 percent know what will happen," Horvath said. "Going into this summer period, my main objective is is to play and I know that yes, the World Cup is coming around and that is part of the reason why I want to play but to be honest, I just want to play again, feel that adrenaline and those butterflies and just that gameday feeling day in and day out.

"We'll see what happens. We're in close contact with Nottingham and whatever happens, happens there. The main objective is to play, with Nottingham or somewhere else."
