Nottingham Forest fans make 'Poundland' joke after Djed Spence named in PFA Championship Team of the Year

Nottingham Forest fans have sent Steve Cooper a clear message about transfers after Djed Spence picked up yet another award following his impressive loan spell at the City Ground.

Spence, 21, enjoyed a brilliant season with the Reds - contributing two goals and five assists - having joined from Middlesbrough on-loan and played a key role in their promotion into the Premier League.

The talented full-back has now returned to Boro, though, and is waiting to make his next move amid interest from clubs in the Premier League, including Forest and Tottenham, as well as in Europe.

It was perhaps a harsh call from the PFA to omit Brennan Johnson and several other Reds from their Championship Team of the Season, but the Championship play-off final winners at least have representation through Spence.

It is yet another award heading for Spence's trophy cabinet, having this season picked up one Young Player of the Month awards, one Championship Player of the Month award, a Championship Goal of the Month gong as well as being included in the EFL's Championship Team of the Season.

Forest fans had plenty of praise for Spence following the award - including one supporter who fired a jibe towards Middlesbrough - but they were more focused on wanting the Reds to sign Spence permanently. Here's what some said on social media...
