Nottingham Forest duo send warnings to Manchester United

Nottingham Forest captain Joe Worrall said that his teammates fancy their chances against any visiting team as they gear up to face Manchester United.

United are the visitors on Sunday for Forest who are currently in the midst of a relegation battle. Erik ten Hag will have fond memories of his last trip to Nottingham which saw the Reds run out 3-0 winners in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final.

Ten Hag's men would then beat Forest 2-0 at Old Trafford to secure a 5-0 aggregate victory on their way to League Cup success. Despite this, Worrall claimed that he is optimistic of picking up a positive result this weekend.

He told Sky Sports: "They’re a fantastic team, I think they’ve definitely been underperforming for a club that size for many years since [Sir Alex] Ferguson left. It’s took a while to get the right man for the job and it looks like the manager at the moment who’s there has struck the right chord with the squad.

"They’ve got fantastic players, who are we kidding, [they’re] an impressive outfit. But I think if we look at how much talent we have in our squad, the belief, the fight, the energy, the charisma that we’re going to have to have to stay in this division. It doesn’t matter who we play at the City Ground, we fancy ourselves."

Taiwo Awoniyi echoed the sentiments of his captain during a recent interview with BBC Radio Nottingham. He added: "Previously we've played against Chelsea at home as well, we've played against [Manchester] City as well and City is also one of the contenders to win the league, we didn't lose at home.
