Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough fans clash over 'envious' Djed Spence comments

Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough supporters are split over the talent and potential of wing-back Djed Spence.

The 21-year-old has shone at Forest this season after being allowed to leave on loan by Middlesbrough back in the summer.

Speaking about that decision, then-Boro boss Neil Warnock explained his reasons.

"I let him go. He needed to sort himself out, really," he told talkSPORT. "I basically said to him that you can go to the top or you can go non-league.

"I think Steve Cooper is the manager for him, to be honest. He has let him go forward more often, which suits his game."

Fans have reacted to Warnock's claims, as well as a line from NottinghamshireLive's Sarah Clapson that Boro have been watching Spence with envy this season.

: Why would Boro be envious? He still belongs to us, we will sell him at the end of the season and we are happier with Jones. We could have recalled him in January if only to prevent him playing for one of our playoff rivals but we had the good grace not to.
