Formula 1: Max Verstappen commits future to Red Bull signing £200m deal

Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen has signed a new multi-million-pound deal – believed to be worth as much as £40m a season – to keep him at Red Bull until the end of 2028.

The Dutchman had two years left on his current contract but, in the wake of his dramatic title win in Abu Dhabi last season, he has been handed a five-year extension.

Verstappen had briefly been touted by rivals Mercedes as a potential long-term replacement for Lewis Hamilton but said at the season’s end he had no plans to leave the team he has been with since 2016.
