Not just Nunes: Wolves also eyeing 'super' striker who's only ever missed 2 games through injury

Wolverhampton Wanderers have once again been name-checked among the suitors for Benfica frontman Goncalo Ramos in a report from Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Notícias (via Sport Witness). 

Having allowed Fabio Silva to join Anderlecht, Wolves lost Raul Jimenez to injury and subsequently were left with Hwang Hee-chan as the last remaining recognised striker option.

The Wanderers have since added Goncalo Guedes to Bruno Lage’s ranks, although there are reports that another striker option could well be heading through the door at Molineux over the coming days along with Matheus Nunes.

Now a fresh claim has emerged from Portugal suggesting that Wolves are still among those interested in signing Ramos before the September 1 deadline, although a Premier League rival is seemingly some way ahead in the pursuit…

As per Jornal de Noticias, translated by SW, Wolves, Everton, Leeds United and Southampton are all keen on the 21-year-old Portugal youth international.

However, it’s claimed that mega-rich Newcastle United ‘will present’ an offer worth in excess of €40million (£33.6million) for Ramos.

The report states that the North East outfit ‘anticipate the competition’ from their domestic rivals and are therefore attempting to land the man described as a ‘super talent’ by European football expert Antonio Mango.

Adding a genuine centre-forward option to Lage’s ranks is imperative if Wolves are going to be competitive this season and as such players like Moussa Dembele have been linked to the Midlands outfit in recent days.

Last term, Ramos scored eight times and provided four assists in 46 outings across all competitions whilst playing second fiddle to now Liverpool hitman Darwin Nunez.
