'Not good enough' - Pep Guardiola responds to Erling Haaland concern at Man City

Pep Guardiola pointed to problems all over the pitch after suffering five consecutive defeats for the first time in his career.

Manchester City were thrashed 4-0 at home to Spurs to continue their wretched run that has seen them take none of the last nine available in the Premier League as well as suffer their first Champions League defeat of the season and exit the Carabao Cup. The Blues were on top early against Spurs, only to struggle to bounce back after conceding.

Erling Haaland missed a couple of good chances to get on the scoresheet and after ten goals from his first five league games he now has just two from his last seven. Of more concern is the fact that those two goals still represent nearly a quarter of the nine City have managed in that time, with Jeremy Doku the only forward to get on the scoresheet.

Josko Gvardiol, John Stones and Mateo Kovacic have all chipped in with goals but City are sorely lacking goalscoring support for their No.9. Phil Foden and Savinho missed opportunities in Saturday's defeat while Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva are yet to score this season.

Guardiola believes that scoring goals is key to a good defence, helping City to control games and improving confidence within the team. As much as they need to do better defensively, the manager also needs more players to finish the chances they are creating to help them out of their mess.
