Northern Ireland's Jordan Jones 'linked' with Scottish Premiership transfer

Northern Ireland international Jordan Jones could be returning to the Scottish Premiership for the new season - as he has been linked with one of his old clubs, it is reported. Jones left Glasgow Rangers for Wigan Athletic on a three-year deal in 2021, but spent some of the last campaign north of the border with St Mirren on loan.

Now The Sun reports that Jones could be joining Kilmarnock again. The newspaper says Wigan want to loan the winger to Derek McInnes' newly promoted Scottish Premiership side, and will pay part of his wages to ensure the deal goes ahead.

During his time with St Mirren in Paisley, Jones scored one goal and made one assist in 13 appearances. In 2019, Rangers secured Jones on a free transfer after 11 goals in 119 appearances at Rugby Park.

The 27-year-old made a telling impact at Kilmarnock to earn his move to Ibrox and he will be hoping to recapture that once again in familiar surroundings, should a move go through, GlasgowLive reports. McInnes has been adding to his squad this summer with the return of goalkeeper Zach Hemming on a season-long loan deal.

Rangers youngster Lewis Mayo has joined Kilmarnock on a similar agreement. Former Celtic midfielder Kerr McInroy has signed a two-year deal too.
