Noel Gallagher's Man City title celebrations ended by an accidental head-butt from Ruben Dias' dad

Noel Gallagher ended Manchester City’s glorious final day needing stitches after being accidentally head-butted by Ruben Dias’ dad. But the Oasis legend says he was not about to postpone his band rehearsals for today due to the injury, as he has three Liverpool fans in his band.

The big Blue watched the game from a private box at the Etihad Stadium, and was hurt when Ilkay Gundogan completed a memorable fightback with the third goal in a 3-2 win over Aston Villa that clinched City’s fourth title in five seasons. Gallagher, who is now frontman for the High Flying Birds, revealed how his celebrations were cut short by a collision with the father of City’s defensive rock.

He told TalkSport : “As the third goal goes in, there is absolute bedlam in the stadium. Where we sit, Ruben Dias ’ family are a couple of boxes up. I’m jumping around like an idiot, passing my son around like the Premier League trophy, everyone’s lifting him up.

“I turn around, Ruben Dias’ dad runs straight into me, headbutts me, I’m on the floor, covered in blood. I don’t see the last two minutes, I’ve got to get taken down by St John’s Ambulance to get stitched up.”

Gallagher intended to join the City players’ celebrations - he has led the singing in the dressing room after previous trophy wins, but manager Pep Guardiola was shocked to see his friend’s bashed-up face.

“I’ve got stitches in my top lip, two black eyes,” said Gallagher. “As I’m going down the corridor, Pep is running up crying and we hug each other.

“He says, ‘What’s up with your face?’ And I said, ‘Go and be with your players!’ If you saw me today, I look like I’ve just arrived home from the eighties at Elland
