'No way' - Erik ten Hag has dropped a hint about Ineos ambition for Manchester United

Manchester United's return to Carrington for pre-season training this week was a little different than previous years, with players getting used to new surroundings.

The builders are in at United's famous training ground and £50m of Sir Jim Ratcliffe's £234m cash injection into the club is being used to bring the facility up to scratch. It does mean disruption during this season, however.

Erik ten Hag and his squad have moved out of their first-team building, with the work at Carrington set to take place for most of this season. They have taken over the women's building instead and will have spent this week getting used to their new workplace.

In Ten Hag's interview with club media on his first day back he discussed the work going on and how it has resulted in a more "compact" training ground, but it sounds like a price worth paying and it was telling to hear how positive the United manager was about the plans for Carrington.

"We really have something to look forward to, being constructed over there, and that will be the best training ground in English football, but the most important is now," said Ten Hag.

"We live today and they did a great job to make this work and make this facility work to a professional condition, so we can work professionally. Four weeks ago here it was chaotic, now it's set up so professionally. We have a compact training ground, we have everything nearby, in good conditions, in good standards.
