'No guarantees' massive Man United star will stay next season

Transfer insider Dean Jones thinks it is far from certain that Cristiano Ronaldo will be at Manchester United next season.

Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford after 12 years away from the club last summer, but his second spell has not gone according to plan.

The 37-year-old started the campaign well, scoring a brace on his second debut for the Red Devils against Newcastle in September.

He also played a key role as United booked their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League by scoring late goals against Villarreal and Atalanta.

However, the goals have dried up since the turn of the year, and it has been reported that Ronaldo is now considering his future, with his relationship with interim boss Ralf Rangnick believed to be “totally fractured“.

Jones feels there is a possibility that Ronaldo does depart Old Trafford at the end of the season, and has predicted that speculation regarding his next career move will ramp up as the summer draws nearer.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Jones said: “There are no guarantees right now that Ronaldo does stay. I think that’s one of the big storylines that will emerge towards the back end of the season, whether he wants to stay.”

As Jones alluded to, Ronaldo’s future may not be decided until well into the summer break.

The Portuguese icon clearly has a lot of affection for United, which is why he returned to the club in the first place.

However, he will surely want to be playing in the Champions League next season, and Rangnick’s side have a real battle on their hands to finish inside the top four.

Ronaldo will also be eager to see who the next manager is going to be. Rangnick is due to move into a consultancy role in the coming months, and United have a huge decision to make over
