‘No doubt’ - Rio Ferdinand says familiar Man United name would solve striker crisis

Rio Ferdinand has said that Manchester United have an all too familiar face that they can turn to in order to solve their attacking issues.

Erik ten Hag raised some eyebrows when Christian Eriksen played as a false nine during United's opening Premier League match against Brighton. The Dutchman opted to leave Cristiano Ronaldo on the bench, with the United boss saying he is not yet at the required fitness level to start, but unfortunately the tactical gamble did not pay off.

It was just eight minutes into second half before Ronaldo was introduced into the action. United did look more threatening in the final 45 minutes, but Graham Potter's side held on to their first-half lead to leave supporters wondering where all the pre-season optimism had disappeared to.

United have a week to prepare for their next clash against Brentford on Saturday and they will have to come up with a way to address the issue of who their starting striker is by then. Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has said that his old side do not need to look far in order to find the striker they desperately need. Speaking on his YouTube channel ' Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE', he said that former Manchester United player Danny Welbeck is the perfect player to step in as a striker for the club.
