Nigeria Taekwondo partners centre to promote sports in schools

The Lagos State Taekwondo Association Chairman, Jummy Ogunnowo, has stated that the association is currently planning to partner with the Korea Cultural Centre (KCC) to teach students taekwondo in schools.    Speaking at the taekwondo grading exercise organised by the Executive Self Defense and Martial Arts Academy held at the Pitch Court, Lekki Phase One, at the weekend, Ogunnowo said that taekwondo at the grassroots level need to be improved to uncover more talents from their formative stage.    Ogunnowo, who extolled the martial arts academy for training and churning out quality taekwondo athletes for the country, stated that encouragement would be given to taekwondo academies in the state to be more effective in grooming potential stars.    “Lagos State is delighted that the Executive Martial Arts Academy is grading taekwondo athletes on a black belt and other classes of belts. This shows that more people are taking part in the sport.     “Lagos State Association is going around the taekwondo academies in the state to encourage and support them in any capacity. We will also work with other organisations to promote the sport,” he said. Emadomi Wilson.
