Nigel Pearson outlines transfer stance amid Leicester City ‘interest’ in key player

Leicester City are among the clubs to have been linked with Bristol City wonderkid Alex Scott.

The 18-year-old has become a regular in the Championship side’s line-up after being given his senior debut by former Foxes boss Nigel Pearson.

Tottenham and Everton have also been linked with Scott – who has a contract until 2025 – while fellow youngsters Antoine Semenyo and Han-Noah Massengo are also said to be attracting attention from other clubs.

While the Robins are keen to hold on to their prize assets, the club’s hand could be forced after they posted losses of £38.4million.

That leaves them at risk of breaching the EFL’s profit and sustainability rules and therefore could lead to a points deduction.

Pearson has addressed the future of the aforementioned trio, saying they should only be allowed to leave on his club’s terms.

“My view on it is always this - they’re our players and if we have to lose them, they’ll go on our terms,” said Pearson, reported BristolLive.

“We don’t want to necessarily be a ‘selling club’ just to keep afloat, because what that doesn’t do is give our fanbase any encouragement that what we’re trying to do is produce a side which is enjoyable to watch, will be successful and has players come through in our system.

“That is the ideal world. Maybe it’s pie in the sky but, who cares, it’s what we aspire to do.

"This current group of players who have come through, either our system or have been in our system for a long while, are very, very promising.

“But, like with every business, and football shouldn’t feel it’s above that, we have to make decisions which are right for the business.
