‘Paused it’ – West Brom fans hit back after Nigel Pearson moan
Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson was unhappy with the manner of West Brom’s equaliser in the 2-2 draw between the sides.
The Baggies looked to be heading for defeat at Ashton Gate when Andreas Weimann made it 2-1 on 85 minutes. But Albion salvaged a point thanks to Adam Reach’s leveller deep into added time. Pearson felt that goal should not have stood, insisting Jake Livermore was offside in the build-up.
"Livermore was offside, by the way. For the goal, he was offside," Pearson told BristolLive. "You can’t expect the officials to get you over the line, quite frankly. Sometimes I might expect it the other way round, but I don’t expect that.
"Again, I’m not going to go down the route of moaning about them, all the FA ever do then is come after me. Rather than that, I would prefer for the FA to do something about the quality of the refereeing.
"Nothing to do with me, I’m not criticising the officials, but I’m tired of reading emails from the MOAS [Match Official Administration System] team of the FA, but I’ll let our darling FA deal with all that because they’re brilliant, aren’t they?”
Here’s how Albion fans have reacted to those comments on our West Brom Facebook page…
I’ve paused it and there’s a Bristol City player playing him on centrally, so Nigel you are wrong!
Nothing like a good bit of sour grapes to make you look the Man hey Nige.
Referees accountable to referees, VAR overseen by referees just like the old boys club that’s the problem.
While I respect Pearson at the end of the day it ended 2-2, end of, we played c**p at times and made them look good, on to the next game.
