Tomas Kalas update emerges ahead of Bristol City’s meeting with Stoke City

Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson has revealed that Tomas Kalas is unlikely to feature again for the club this season after undergoing surgery on an issue with his groin earlier this week.

The defender has missed the Robins’ last five league games as a result of this particular injury and is now set to be out of action for at least another three weeks.

In the absence of Kalas, City have continued to struggle with their consistency in the Championship.

Whereas the Robins did pick up an impressive victory over Blackburn Rovers last month, they only managed to accumulate a total of two points from their clashes with Barnsley, West Bromwich Albion, AFC Bournemouth and Peterborough United.

Pearson’s side will be looking to get back to winning ways tomorrow when they head to the bet365 Stadium to face Stoke City.

Ahead of this fixture, Pearson has shared an injury update on Kalas.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference (as cited by the Bristol Post) about the Czech Republic international, Pearson said: “Tomas had a procedure the other day and will be for another three or four weeks.

“So that probably takes care of the season but you never know you might see him back on the pitch but probably not.

“I think mentally, as well, the way Tomas plays as well he does throw himself around and he’s committed so it’s more about him getting that recovery right now.”

The Verdict

This is a blow for the Robins as they would have been hoping to call upon the services of Kalas between now and the end of the season.

Whereas there is still a chance that he could feature again before the campaign reaches a crescendo in May, Pearson doesn’t really need to take a risk on him as his side are set to retain their Championship status for another
