Nick Faldo blasted for his Sergio Garcia attack as 'worst ever' Ryder Cup captain branded a hypocrite

Sir Nick Faldo has been slammed for his latest attack on LIV Golf in which he dismissed Sergio Garcia and Co as "done".

The former Ryder Cup captain opened fire on the players who broke away from the PGA Tour and have subsequently been ostracised from Team Europe. Only one LIV star will tee it up at the Marco Simeone next week – Brooks Koepka for America. Despite the supposed merger of LIV with the traditional tour, tensions remain high – with Faldo on the offensive.

The 66-year-old has waded back into the golf row, branding Team Europe stalwarts such as Garcia, Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter finished. He said earlier this week. "These guys have moved on. I think we have one of the strongest teams we have ever had. Those guys have left the tour and are in a different world now. They have not supported the tour, they are done.”

But respected golf outlet Flushingit has flayed Faldo, branding him "the worst Ryder Cup captain Europe has ever had" and called him out for a lack of loyalty. The account said: "Nick Faldo was the worst European Ryder Cup Captain that Team Europe has ever had and his team, which included 6 guys who went to LIV, never threw him under the bus.

"The way he’s flipped on them and is now pushing these hypocritical opinions lacks class. The golf world is supposed to be coming together again and it’s about time people like Faldo realised that."

Team Europe, headed by superstars Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm are favourites to win back the Ryder Cup, which starts in Rome on Friday, September 29.
