NHF takes 14 players to U-18 IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3 championship

Fourteen U-18 players will represent Nigeria at the IHF Trophy Africa Zone 3, which will hold in Accra, Ghana.

The team left the shores of Nigeria, yesterday, after training under Coach Shittu Agboola Adewunmi at the Rowe Park Sports Centre, Lagos.

Nigeria, which is in Group A, alongside the host, Ghana; Liberia and Niger Republic, begins its campaign a game against Niger Republic. The match will hold at the Tennis Arena of the Accra Sports Stadium.

Among the players in the team are Rahima Bello of Rima Babes and Vera John of Bayelsa Queens, who was national division one most valuable player in Benin City, Edo State.

Others are Esther Mathew of Lagos Seasiders, Amina Mohammed of Sokoto Rima, Lucy Onyekwere of Sokoto Rima, Chidera Ogbusimba of Sokoto Rima, Monica Opara of Sokoto Rima, Prudence Samuel of Sokoto Rima, Munira Kasimu of Sokoto Rima, Oparaugo Amarachi of Imo Grasshoppers, Taiwo Babatunde of Lagos Seasiders, Okolo Joan of Kutus Academy, Delta State, Samuel Precious of Sokoto Rima and Kehinde Babatunde of Lagos Seasiders Babes.

Before travelling to Accra, the team played two friendly matches against Lagos U-18 boys team and All Stars Senior Women Team, as part of their preparation for the tournament.
