Neymar 'enters' Man United transfer talks as Erik Ten Hag eyes shock swoop for wantaway PSG star

Manchester United could be set to land Brazilian superstar Neymar in a shock summer swoop after ‘active negotiations’ took place over a transfer.

The Paris-SG star looks set to quit the French capital on the back of Lionel Messi’s departure. The former Santos and Barca talent is never shy to voice his displeasure and has been an outspoken figure at PSG over the last six years. With Kylian Mbappe now the star name in world football, Neymar’s light has faded and is thought to be keen to move on after he current campaign.

Now L'Equipe report United have entered talks over the 31-year-old. Reports have also linked rivals Manchester City and Chelsea with a move, but the Old Trafford club’s interest appears to be the most concrete with Erik Ten Hag still shaping the squad he wants as he approaches the end of his first season in charge.

Despite being in his thirties, Neymar would still represent a marquee signing for the Red Devils. However, that approach backfired somewhat when united bought Cristiano Ronaldo back to the club from Juventus. Despite scoring regularly, the Portuguese proved another difficult figure and was moved out towards the end of last year following a scathing attack on Ten Hag in an interview with Piers Morgan prior to the World Cup.

United will hope that Neymar proves more of a team player that fits into Ten Hag’s approach. Harry Kane has been heavily linked with a transfer from Tottenham, but the money required to prise him away from North London this summer could prove to be steep even for United.
